Our care is led by a committed team of well qualified Registered Nurses from a variety of backgrounds. This is supported by enthusiastic senior care assistants all trained to a high standard in nationally accredited qualifications Health and Social Care. All our care and support staff undergo qualifications and training to underpin continuous professional development and enhance quality of care.
Choice and dignity in optimizing health and wellbeing is incorporated into our philosophy of care within every aspect of life at Lowgate. We believe that quality of life should be maximized by and are also wholly committed to the principles of holistic palliative care at the end of life.
Activity is seen essential to maximizing quality of life and enabling a good transition into the care environment. We encourage the continuation where possible of each person's individual hobbies and interests as well as participation in group activities which are organized by our full time activities coordinator. These activities included pleasurable past times such as painting and crafts, as well as considered therapies such as music creation. We have a hairdresser who visits every Tuesday and we can make appointments for massage therapy if desired, and physiotherapy and occupational therapy on the basis of assessed need.
Our catering department offers a choice of locally sourced food cooked on the premises and with assistance and special dietary requirements provided.
Laundry and domestic services are provided and included in our fees.
All rooms have a call bell; TV access points and meet individual requirements in relation to fittings and furnishings and we supply specialized nursing equipment following needs assessments.
Friendliness is an aspect that people invariable notice when visiting our home. We always have fully qualified registered nurses and duty and we try to balance clinical needs with quality of home life. We try very hard not to discriminate between those who do and don't have nursing needs within our care management, thus ensuring we respond appropriately to changing circumstances.
